One of New York City's best bookstores, focused on on mainly art you can also find books on architecture, fashion, and design. They carry many rare and low volume print books, exhibit catalogs, zeens, and more. There shelves seem endless and if you are looking for something unique this is your best bet. Printed Matter is so much more than a bookstore, but you have to visit to fully understand the scope of their efforts.
NOTES:
Typically open Tuesday-Sunday, however check that they are open before visiting around holiday's and during the summer.

DISCRIPTION:
This bookstore is tucked inside a private residence and is by appointment only. It is well worth the effort and is a rare gem if you're looking for used books. The bulk of the bookstore is art, design, fashion, and architecture books and periodicals. If you are looking for a specific older fashion magazine High Valley Books is your best bet. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. After your first visit you won't stop thinking about what other treasures you've missed that are yet to be discovered on the shelves.

This is the rare bookstore we all hunt for that has an incredible selection of rare and sought after books and periodicals, but fare pricing. This place is special. In owner is incredibly kind and will tour you through the space, helping you find what you’re looking for.

A great collection of art, architecture, fashion, and design books. Mostly used books with a decent selection of new and rare books. Everything on the shelves is thoughtfully selected and if you know what you are looking for you can find some good deals. The store may not be large, but the quality of their selection means it's easy to lose time browsing here.
