The National Art Center, Tokyo (NACT) is a major contemporary art institution in Japan’s Roppongi district that opened in 2007. Unlike traditional museums with a permanent collection, it operates primarily as a venue for rotating exhibitions, collaborating with other museums, galleries, and organizations to present diverse artistic programs. The center’s striking architecture, designed by Kisho Kurokawa, features a vast glass façade and a flowing interior of curved walls and open spaces, creating an adaptable environment for large-scale installations and varied exhibition layouts. With extensive galleries, educational facilities, and public spaces, the center aims to engage wide audiences and encourage dialogue around modern and contemporary art. Its location near cultural landmarks contributes to Tokyo’s vibrant arts corridor. NACT has become a key platform for both Japanese and international art presentations.

DESCRIPTION:

The museum showcases modern and contemporary works. The Museum focuses on rotating exhibitions rather than a permanent collection.
