205 Water Street in Brooklyn’s DUMBO district is a residential building by S9 Architecture, completed in 2012 and rising nine stories. Its design references the industrial character of the surrounding historic neighborhood with cast-in-place concrete façades and Cor-Ten steel accents that echo local metalwork. A distinctive cantilevered penthouse balcony draws inspiration from views of the nearby Manhattan Bridge. Inside, loft-like units feature high ceilings, wide oak flooring, and large windows. The project also incorporates sustainable strategies, such as the use of many recycled and locally sourced materials, aligning contemporary living with environmental consciousness.
