The Arimaston Building by Keisuke Oka uses a faceted and textured concrete façade of angled planes to break down its narrow urban footprint. Irregular openings and layered surfaces create depth and shifting light effects. Light enters through carefully placed apertures, producing changing patterns throughout the day. Oka’s design emphasizes individuality within dense city fabric, using geometry to redefine how a small building can engage its surroundings. Constructed over 20 years, it is a sculptural masterpiece that feels both built ad hoc and painstakingly intentional.
