First presented in 1982, 7000 Eichen (7000 Oaks) is ‘Land Art’ work that paired a basalt stone column with the planting of 7000 Oak trees in Kassel Germany. in 1996 the Dia Art Foundation in collaboration with the City of New York/Parks and Recreation, The New York Tree Trust, and the Arthur Ross Foundation sponsored a continuation of the Bueys’s work.

NOTES:

This is a subtle work of art, but one that is quite powerful when you understand the story. It could be easily overlooked and many New York City, but if you are in the area it is worth taking a moment to appreciate. The installation is located in front of the Dia Art Foundation’s NYC location which is free to the public and is well worth visiting to see any current exhibits.
