Andy Goldsworthy

ABOUT THE ARITST

Andy Goldsworthy is a British artist known for creating site-specific works from natural materials such as stone, leaves, ice, and wood. Born in 1956, he developed a practice rooted in direct engagement with the landscape, often constructing temporary pieces that are shaped by weather, gravity, and time. Many of his works exist only briefly and are documented through photography, emphasizing process as much as result. Goldsworthy also produces more permanent installations using dry stone and other traditional techniques, frequently in collaboration with local environments. His work highlights cycles of growth and decay, revealing patterns within nature that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through careful placement and minimal intervention, he explores the relationship between human touch and the natural world.
